Planning a trip to Vietnam is not easy.
The country is very huge and many are the attractions and places of interest.
You should have months, or maybe years, to visit this beautiful country well.
We are lucky enough to have all the necessary time, but we realize that we are an exception.
Having been in Huè, we would like to share our experience with those who have to decide whether or not include this city in the itinerary.
Here what to see in Hue: 5 places not to be missed.
WHAT TO SEE IN HUE IN A DAY: THE IMPERIAL CITADEL
Like a matrioshka of palaces built within other larger palaces, the Imperial Citadel is the symbol of the city.
During the 17th and 18th century, this huge architectural complex was the administrative headquarters of South Vietnam.
Time: at least a couple of hours
Cost: the entrance costs 250.000 dong you can add other 250.000 dong if you want a guide.
PS: in the evening the walls of the citadel are illuminated with colorful light games.
WHAT TO SEE IN HUE IN A DAY: THE PERFUME RIVER
This river with its beautiful name, crosses the city and its calm is in contrast with the chaos and traffic on the bridges crossing it.
On a sunny day, it is pleasant to stop watching boats sailing slowly on the river.
The name “perfume” comes from the tropical scent of plants and flowers transported by the river… honestly we can’t confirm it!
Time: It can be a good place to rest a while after exploring the Imperial Citadel.
WHAT TO SEE IN HUE IN A DAY: THIEN MU PAGODA
Along the banks of the Perfume river, this pagoda is the symbol of the city’s revolutionary past.
A quiet place and far from traffic, built in 1600, but destroyed several times.
